What Is Trunk-or-Treat?

Hosted by the Johns Creek Police Department and Recreation & Parks, this event puts a creative spin on classic trick-or-treating. Instead of going door-to-door, kids walk from car to car — collecting candy from decorated trunks in the City Hall parking lot.

Local businesses, nonprofits, and neighbors bring out their best Halloween decor to make each trunk a treat in itself.

What to Expect

  • Lots of candy & goodies for the kids.

  • Colorfully themed car trunks with costumes and decorations.

  • Food trucks with tasty bites for the whole family.

  • Fun activities for children and a welcoming, festive atmosphere.
This event draws hundreds of families, so expect a lively crowd and lots of happy trick-or-treaters!

Want to Join as a “Trunk”?

If you or your business want to get involved, you can register to decorate a trunk and pass out candy (or giveaways). It’s a fun way to meet neighbors, get creative, and promote your brand in a family-friendly setting.

Application deadline: October 14

(Sponsorship options available!)

Tip: Think beyond candy! Kids love small toys, glow sticks, stickers, and fun keepsakes.

Tips for a Great Time

  • Arrive early — parking can fill up fast.

  • Wear your costume — kids and adults alike.

  • Bring a candy bag (or two).

  • Stay patient — this event is for all ages, but especially younger kids.

  • Check the weather and city site for any updates or changes.

Why It Matters

Events like this are what make Johns Creek one of Atlanta’s most family-friendly suburbs. If you’re thinking about moving to or investing in the area, these community traditions are a good sign — and a great opportunity to experience the neighborhood vibe.

Thinking About Selling Your Atlanta Home?

Whether you’re planning to sell in the next few months or just starting to explore your options, the key is preparation. A strong listing strategy, staging, and pricing plan will always outweigh seasonality.
